KOENIG'S WONDER

REVIEWS

Family secrets, intrigue, and murder!

The year is 1937 when two brothers are forced to leave their home in Germany. They arrive in New York City with only a white Lipizzan stallion and a stolen Friedrich painting. What happens next affects three generations of the Maseman family as they become torn apart by greed, war, and revenge.

Years later, Emma Maseman discovers the harsh truth about her family when she is investigated for the theft of Koenig's Wonder, a Kentucky Derby winning Thoroughbred.

As the mysteries unravel, Koenig's Wonder races toward the finish line in brilliant and thoroughly engrossing fashion.
.................................................................

Koenig's Wonder, McMinnville author Linda Kuhlmann's first published novel, is an ambitious weaving of romance, intrigue and suspense.”
—Mary Rash, Friends of the McMinnville Library

An enthralling mystery, and a great love story too!,
August 20, 2006

In Koenig's Wonder, novelist Linda Kuhlmann has painted the reader's world on a canvas large enough and with words vibrant enough to bring to life pre-World War II Germany, the hallowed horse racing tracks of old Kentucky, and the soft green hills of Oregon in this tale of brotherly love, brotherly hate, greed, and redemption which spans several generations of the immigrant Maseman family. A drugged and stolen Thoroughbred race horse, dark family secrets, and a failed but never forgotten love between a man and a woman seperated by time, circumstance, and the pull of others all add up to one very entertaining and enjoyable read. Definitely two thumbs up on this author's first time effort!

—K.R. Lewis, author of Little Blue Whales

A good read!,

This first novel by a local writer was enjoyed by the entire family. My wife stayed up two nights really late because she was entrapped by the characters. Linda did a great job. Hope to see more in the future!

I thoroughly enjoyed Linda Kuhlmann's first book!,
November 22, 2004

A ‘Can't put it down’ kind of book. Her characterizations were incredible...I easily pictured the characters and clearly "sensed" their feelings and actions. Her captivating, suspenseful story, interlaced with a wonderful romantic love story, kept me eagerly reading on.... I look forward with much anticipation to her next book.

—Christine Rehm "C. Rehm" (McMinnville, OR)
